The National Testing Agency (NTA) has invited Expressions of Interest (EoI) from experienced educators, researchers, academicians and domain specialists for empanelment as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). The initiative aims to strengthen academic quality, assessment standards and integrity across national-level examinations conducted by the agency.

According to the application details, selected experts may contribute to several stages of the examination development process. Their responsibilities can include item authoring and question design, with an emphasis on syllabus-aligned questions that assess application, understanding and higher-order thinking skills.

SMEs may also be involved in reviewing and vetting examination questions. This includes checking items for conceptual accuracy, clarity, relevance and appropriate difficulty levels.

Another important area is moderation, where experts help ensure consistency, neutrality and alignment with established examination blueprints. The empanelment process also covers translation and transadaptation, requiring specialists to help ensure that examination content remains accurate, culturally appropriate and linguistically clear across regional languages.

The opportunity is open to serving or retired faculty members, professors, school educators and other domain specialists who have demonstrable expertise in their respective subjects.
