A horrific bus fire on the Yamuna Expressway near Greater Noida claimed nine lives, exposing shocking negligence by the driver and vehicle operators.

According to an FIR filed by a survivor from Hamirpur district, passengers had repeatedly warned the driver and conductor about a burning smell inside the sleeper bus. Instead of stopping, the duo — allegedly smoking inside the vehicle — dismissed the warnings and told passengers, “If you want to die, then die; we won’t stop the bus.”

The bus caught fire just 5 km from the newly inaugurated Noida International Airport, with police suspecting a blast in the air‑conditioning system as the likely cause. Investigations revealed the vehicle had 17 pending challans worth ₹1.59 lakh, raising serious questions about enforcement and safety checks.
