The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has demanded the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, accusing him of undermining voter rights. The party warned of a nationwide agitation, including a protest dubbed “Jantar Mantar 2.0”, if Kumar does not step down within two days.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke urged India’s youth to rise in defence of democracy. “Who is Gyanesh Kumar to revoke our right to vote? We should all come forward to save the nation,” he said. Dipke stressed that free and fair elections are the cornerstone of India’s constitutional framework and cannot be compromised.

The demand comes amid mounting criticism of the Election Commission’s functioning, with opposition parties and civil society raising concerns about alleged irregularities in voter roll revisions under Kumar’s leadership. The CJP’s call for mass mobilisation adds pressure on the Commission, already facing scrutiny after reports of dissent among Election Commissioners.

With protests gaining traction, the controversy has reignited debates on electoral transparency, institutional accountability, and the protection of democratic rights. The coming days may determine whether the agitation escalates into a larger movement demanding reforms in India’s electoral system.
