Nike has launched the Alphafly 4, its latest marathon racing shoe designed to help runners maintain speed, cushioning and stability over long distances. The new model is positioned as the lightest and most responsive version of the Alphafly series so far. Nike says the shoe delivers 10% more energy return than its predecessor while being 5% lighter.

The Alphafly 4 has been redesigned as a complete racing system, with changes intended to help runners maintain their pace and form throughout a marathon.

The shoe features a new Atomknit upper, designed to provide a lightweight fit while supporting the foot during faster running. It also uses ZoomX LT foam, updated Air Zoom units and a carbon-fibre Flyplate.

The combination of these components is intended to balance propulsion with cushioning and stability. The carbon-fibre plate is designed to support a responsive feel, while the updated foam and Air Zoom units provide cushioning during long-distance running.

Nike says the design aims to help runners carry speed over longer distances while maintaining efficient running form.
