Actor Nani sparked an online discussion after his comments about women wearing braids during a promotional interaction for his upcoming film The Paradise in Karnataka.

While discussing his character Jadal, who sports a braided hairstyle in the film, Nani observed that he rarely sees women wearing braids these days. He suggested that the traditional hairstyle should make a comeback and said people were becoming increasingly influenced by Western culture.

Nani also pointed to a female reporter at the event and recalled how mothers traditionally braided their daughters’ hair. He linked braiding and oiling with stronger hair and said he hoped Jadal’s appearance would inspire a new trend.

The conversation took a lighter turn when reporters responded to his comments. One reporter pointed out that men are also growing their hair longer, while another joked that Nani might have received more attention if he had actually grown his hair for the role instead of using a wig. Nani laughed at the remark and later acknowledged a reporter’s point that women may not always have enough time to maintain their hair.

The exchange subsequently received mixed reactions online. Some users found the interaction humorous, while others questioned why Nani was commenting on women’s hairstyle choices and highlighted the time and effort involved in maintaining traditional hairstyles.

The Paradise, directed by Srikanth Odela, stars Nani alongside Kayadu Lohar, Mohan Babu and Raghav Juyal. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on September 24.
