The popular Golmaal franchise is returning to theatres with its fifth instalment. Directed by Rohit Shetty, Golmaal 5 has been officially scheduled for release on January 8, 2027.
The announcement came with the film’s first poster, featuring Ajay Devgn alongside several familiar faces from the franchise. The cast is seen squeezed together on the series’ iconic stretched motorcycle. However, Akshay Kumar is notably absent from the first poster despite being part of the upcoming film.
Ajay Devgn will reprise his role as Gopal, while Arshad Warsi, Kunal Kemmu, Shreyas Talpade and Tusshar Kapoor are also returning. Sharman Joshi is set to rejoin the franchise nearly two decades after appearing in the first film.
Akshay Kumar, meanwhile, is making his debut in the Golmaal series. Rohit Shetty confirmed his casting earlier this year, with reports suggesting that the actor may take on a negative role.
The film began shooting in Ooty in April 2026 and reportedly completed its dialogue portions by August. Two songs, including the title track, were still pending at the time.
Launched in 2006, the franchise continued with Golmaal Returns, Golmaal 3 and Golmaal Again. The fifth chapter will continue the comedy series in 2027.
