The MIT Postdoctoral Fellowship 2027 application process is underway for the three-year, cohort-based programme offered by the MIT School of Science. The programme is expected to begin in September 2027, with applications closing on November 15, 2026.

Selected fellows will receive an annual stipend of US$88,000, equivalent to approximately ₹83.25 lakh. The fellowship also includes a US$15,000 research fund and a relocation allowance of US$5,000, along with employee benefits such as health insurance.

MIT Postdoctoral Fellowship 2027 Eligibility

Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant scientific field by August 2027 and demonstrate scientific excellence, innovation and experience in interdisciplinary research. International applicants and current MIT postdoctoral researchers can apply.

Candidates must submit a CV, a two-page research proposal explaining the interdisciplinary nature of their work and two recommendation letters. An optional statement related to MIT's Values Statement may also be included.

The fellowship aims to bring together researchers working across disciplinary boundaries. Fellows will also have opportunities to participate in leadership, mentorship and professional development programmes.

Applications will be evaluated by a selection committee comprising faculty members from the MIT School of Science.
