Maruti Suzuki India is targeting nearly 1 million green vehicle sales in FY27, raising its earlier projection of 8–9 lakh units as it expands its CNG, hybrid and electric vehicle portfolio.
The automaker has launched automatic S-CNG variants of the Swift, Dzire and Baleno as part of its Auto Green Mission. The company expects automatic transmission options to attract customers who want the lower running costs associated with CNG without giving up the convenience of an automatic gearbox.
Maruti Suzuki currently holds around 70% of India’s CNG vehicle market and sells close to 80,000 CNG vehicles a month. CNG accounts for about 43% of the company’s own green-vehicle portfolio.
The company said demand for CNG vehicles remains strong, with production capacity currently acting as a constraint. It has a CNG production capacity of around 18,000 units a month and expects higher supplies to support further volume growth.
The new automatic S-CNG models are priced at ₹7.92 lakh for the Swift, ₹8.53 lakh for the Dzire and ₹8.32 lakh for the Baleno, ex-showroom.
Maruti Suzuki said the automatic Dzire S-CNG delivers 36.47 km/kg and is claimed by the company to be India’s most fuel-efficient sedan.
