The Lust Stories franchise has expanded to three instalments, with its latest chapter now streaming on Netflix India. The anthology began in 2018, bringing together Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Karan Johar for four interconnected explorations of desire, relationships and intimacy.
The success of the first instalment led to Lust Stories 2, followed by Lust Stories 3, taking the franchise's total number of segments to 12.
Among the segments highlighted in the ranking is The Mirror, directed by Konkona Sen Sharma for Lust Stories 2. Starring Tillotama Shome and Amruta Subhash, the story explores desire, class differences and gender dynamics through an unusual relationship between two women.
Konkona, who previously directed the acclaimed A Death in the Gunj, co-wrote the segment with Pooja Tolani. The film uses the relationship between an upper-middle-class employer and her domestic worker to explore shifting power dynamics and private desires.
The franchise has brought together several prominent Hindi filmmakers and actors over the years, with each short film offering a distinct take on intimacy and human relationships.
With Lust Stories 3 now available, the latest instalment adds four more stories to an anthology that has continued to evolve since its 2018 debut.
