Actor Khushbu Sundar has marked four decades in the Tamil film industry with a candid reflection on her career, thanking both the people who supported her and those who challenged her along the way.
Sundar, 55, recently received an honour at the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) and used the occasion to reflect on the journey that began in 1986.
In a social media post, the actor said she felt proud of reaching the milestone and credited her hard work, professionalism, dedication and determination for helping her continue through different phases of her career.
Looking back at her first experience in South Indian cinema, Sundar recalled facing the camera on January 1, 1986, in Chennai. Four decades later, she described the journey as surreal and expressed gratitude to audiences who accepted her throughout her career.
Her message also acknowledged people who, according to Sundar, worked against her or attempted to derail her career. Rather than viewing those experiences separately from her success, she said they had also played a part in shaping her journey.
The actor's career has spanned several decades across South Indian cinema, during which she has worked in films and television and remained a familiar public figure.
The SIIMA recognition provided an opportunity for Sundar to look back at both the achievements and setbacks that accompanied her career. Her latest message combines gratitude with an openly celebratory assessment of reaching a 40-year milestone in the industry.
