Mohd Shamoon, a student from the 2027 batch, received the PPO after completing a summer internship with the global payments company. He had secured the internship through an online assessment and interview process and received a monthly stipend of ₹90,000 during the internship.

Following his internship performance, Visa offered Shamoon a pre-placement opportunity. A PPO is generally extended to an intern before graduation and may lead to a full-time position after completion of the academic programme, subject to the company's terms and conditions.

The placement was facilitated through JMI's University Placement Cell, which supports students with internship and recruitment opportunities.

JMI's Faculty of Engineering and Technology was established in 1985, while the university's engineering education dates back to 1978, when its Civil Engineering programme began. The Computer Engineering department was established in 2000 and offers undergraduate programmes in the field.

Shamoon's placement highlights the role of internships and industry exposure in creating early career opportunities for engineering students.
