Google has officially launched Googlebook, a new category of premium laptops designed around Gemini AI and deeper integration with Android smartphones. Pre-orders opened on September 21, with the first devices set to reach stores in October.
The initial Googlebook lineup has been developed with Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo. Prices start at $899, while the current models go up to $1,299. The devices feature premium materials, touchscreens, haptic trackpads and processors from Intel and Qualcomm.
Google says Googlebooks come with at least 16GB of RAM, 512GB storage and dedicated neural processing units capable of more than 45 TOPS on supported models. Battery claims vary by device, with some models offering up to 16 hours of web browsing.
Gemini AI features
Googlebook is built around Gemini Intelligence, with features including Magic Pointer, which brings Gemini into the context of what's on screen, and Rambler, a voice-based tool that turns spoken thoughts into organised notes and text. Another feature, Create My Widget, can generate customised desktop widgets from natural-language instructions.
The laptops also offer Android phone integration through features such as Continue On, Files and Cast My Apps, allowing users to continue tasks, access phone files and use Android apps from the laptop.
Every Googlebook purchase includes 12 months of Google AI Pro, with 5TB of cloud storage and Gemini Advanced tools, along with three months of additional services including YouTube Premium and Adobe Photoshop.
Googlebook devices will go on sale from October 4 in the US and October 5 in Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Australia. Google has not announced an India launch date yet.
