Fireflies.ai has launched Talk, a voice dictation feature designed to let users enter text across everyday work applications by speaking instead of typing. The feature is available on the company’s desktop app for Mac and Windows.
Talk can be used across email, Slack, documents, AI prompts, CRM fields and other applications. Users can activate the feature with a keyboard shortcut and dictate directly into the application they are using, with the converted text appearing at the cursor.
The feature supports more than 100 languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Gujarati, Kannada, Odia, Bengali, Marathi, Punjabi and Sindhi. It also automatically adds punctuation and cleans up transcribed text, allowing users to dictate without verbally specifying commas, full stops and other punctuation marks.
In Slack, users can say the name of a teammate or group and have Talk convert it into the corresponding @mention, making voice-based replies easier to format.
Fireflies.ai has made Talk available across all its plans, including the free tier. The feature complements the company’s existing AI meeting tools, which record and summarise meetings and assist with follow-up tasks.
According to Fireflies.ai, Talk keeps dictations on the user’s device, while audio is sent for transcription. The company says completed text is not stored or used to train its AI models. It also states that Talk meets SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and HIPAA standards.
The launch expands Fireflies.ai’s use of voice AI from meeting-related tasks to everyday writing and workplace communication.
