The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 is holding its first meeting in New Delhi today.

The session will feature a detailed briefing from the Ministry of Home Affairs on the provisions of the Bill, which seeks to amend the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010. The objective is to ensure greater transparency and accountability in the use of foreign contributions across organizations and institutions.

Both Houses of Parliament had referred the Bill to the JPC on August 12, 2026, for deeper scrutiny. The Committee comprises 21 Lok Sabha members nominated by the Speaker and 10 Rajya Sabha members nominated by the Chairman. Lok Sabha MP Sanjay Jaiswal will chair the panel.

Prominent members include Tejaswi Surya, Nishikant Dubey, A. Raja, and Supriya Sule from the Lok Sabha, alongside Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Sanjay Kumar Jha, Praful Patel, and Menaka Guruswamy from the Rajya Sabha.

The Committee has been tasked with submitting its report by the end of the first week of the Winter Session, making today’s meeting a crucial step in shaping the future of foreign funding regulations in India.
