Meeting Captain Machchhar in hospital, the Crown Prince said: “We are proud that he is part of our team, part of the story of our nation, and part of what the UAE stands for — a nation of compassion, peace, and life.”

On September 30, Machchhar was stabbed and seriously injured inside the cockpit of Flydubai flight FZ1073, which was en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv. Despite the attack, he managed to maintain control of the aircraft, ensuring the safety of hundreds of passengers before the plane was diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.

The Crown Prince’s tribute underscores the UAE’s recognition of Machchhar’s bravery, which has drawn global admiration. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to the pilot virtually, praising his presence of mind and resilience.

Captain Machchhar’s heroics have sparked international discussions on aviation safety and highlighted the importance of vigilance in protecting passengers. His recovery continues in Abu Dhabi, where he is receiving advanced medical care.
