In a remarkable display of endurance and determination, twenty girl cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) have successfully completed the ‘Aparajita-ParangLa 2026’ High Altitude Long Trek in Ladakh.The expedition spanned 250 kilometres over 30 days, taking the cadets through some of the toughest terrains in the Himalayas — glaciers, snowfields, and river valleys. The trek began at Kibber in Himachal Pradesh and concluded at Karzok in Ladakh, with the cadets supported by officers, instructors, medical teams, and logistics staff.

The team was formally flagged in at Karzok by Lieutenant General Virendra Vats, Director General NCC, and Dipti Mohil Chawla, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Defence. Congratulating the cadets, Lt Gen Vats praised their resilience, noting that such expeditions foster leadership, teamwork, confidence, and physical endurance among young participants.

The Defence Ministry highlighted that the All India Girls High Altitude Long Trek was designed to encourage young women to embrace adventure activities and gain exposure to challenging high‑altitude conditions. The trek was flagged off by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh from New Delhi on August 18.

This achievement underscores the NCC’s commitment to empowering youth, especially young women, by offering opportunities to test their spirit and strength in extreme environments.
