The National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) has notified new registration regulations aimed at creating a structured system for registering allied and healthcare professionals across India.
The Registration of Allied and Healthcare Professionals Regulations, 2026 were notified on August 31 and published in the Gazette of India on September 15.
Central and State Registers
The regulations provide for registration through both the Central Register and State Registers. These records will help establish an official database of professionals working across recognised allied and healthcare categories.
The registers will also be accessible to the public through the websites of the NCAHP and respective State Councils. They will contain prescribed details of registered professionals, making it easier to verify professional credentials.
What It Means for Professionals
For allied and healthcare professionals, the new framework is expected to bring greater clarity to registration and professional identification. A centralised registration structure can also make it easier for institutions, employers and members of the public to verify whether a professional is registered.
The system is intended to improve transparency in the delivery of allied and healthcare services while creating a more organised regulatory framework across States.
The regulations mark an important step towards implementing a nationwide registration mechanism for allied and healthcare professionals under the NCAHP framework.
