External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar has arrived in Bhutan for a two‑day official visit aimed at reinforcing the close ties of friendship and cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.

During the visit, Dr Jaishankar will hold bilateral talks with Bhutan’s Foreign Minister Lyonpo D.N. Dhungyel, focusing on strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural cooperation. He is also scheduled to receive a royal audience with the King of Bhutan and meet the Prime Minister of Bhutan, underscoring the depth of India’s relationship with the Himalayan nation.

The Ministry of External Affairs noted that the visit reflects the tradition of regular high‑level exchanges between India and Bhutan. It comes at a time when both nations continue to collaborate closely on areas such as connectivity, trade, energy, and people‑to‑people ties.

India and Bhutan share a unique partnership rooted in trust and mutual respect, with India playing a key role in Bhutan’s developmental journey. This visit is expected to further consolidate cooperation and reaffirm India’s commitment to supporting Bhutan’s priorities.
