Actor couple Jyotika and Suriya marked their 20th wedding anniversary in Scotland, choosing the historic Blairquhan Castle in Ayrshire as the setting for their celebrations.
Surrounded by extensive countryside, Blairquhan Castle combines historic Scottish architecture with landscaped grounds and facilities for private events. Its setting and period interiors have made the estate a notable destination for weddings, celebrations and filming.
A historic Scottish estate
The present Blairquhan Castle dates to the early 19th century. Designed by Scottish architect William Burn, the building was completed in 1824 for the Hunter-Blair family. However, the estate itself has a much longer history dating back several centuries.
Inside, the castle retains the character of a traditional Scottish country estate, with ornate rooms, period details, historic furnishings and grand staircases. The architecture provides a glimpse into the style of historic Scottish country houses.
The surrounding estate extends across roughly 200 acres, adding extensive landscaped grounds and countryside to the castle’s historic interiors.
Blairquhan has also been used as a filming location, with its architecture and grounds providing a distinctive backdrop for period and contemporary productions.
