The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Haryana has withdrawn its call for an indefinite suspension of Ayushman Bharat services that was scheduled to begin on September 16.
The decision followed an assurance from Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who told a delegation that he would examine the concerns raised by private hospitals empanelled under the government health scheme.
The dispute centres on outstanding payments and operational issues faced by private hospitals participating in Ayushman Bharat in Haryana.
Private hospitals under the scheme had earlier suspended services to beneficiaries for 24 hours on September 1. The action was linked to pending payments estimated at around ₹1,200 crore, along with other operational concerns.
The latest decision by the IMA Haryana unit means that beneficiaries will not face the planned indefinite suspension of Ayushman Bharat services from September 16.
The scheme allows eligible beneficiaries to access cashless hospitalisation for covered treatments at empanelled healthcare facilities. Private hospitals participating in the programme have raised concerns over payment delays and the functioning of the scheme.
Following the meeting with the Chief Minister, the IMA Haryana unit decided to withdraw its proposed action while the issues are taken up with the State government.
The development temporarily eases concerns over disruption of healthcare services for Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries in Haryana. Further developments will depend on the steps taken by the State government to address the payment-related and operational issues raised by empanelled hospitals.
