The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has issued an alert over the sale of unauthorised cosmetic products manufactured in Pakistan and being sold in India.
In a public notice dated September 8, 2026, the drug regulator identified Goree Beauty Cream and Chandni Whitening Cream among the products flagged for unauthorised sale.
According to CDSCO, the products are not authorised for sale in India, and no trade registration certificate has been issued to their manufacturers.
The regulator also stated that the flagged products contain excessive levels of heavy metals beyond specified permissible limits. Such levels may pose health risks to consumers, including potential toxic effects.
The alert highlights concerns surrounding the availability of cosmetic products that have not received the required regulatory approvals or registrations for the Indian market.
Consumers are advised to exercise caution when purchasing skin-whitening and other cosmetic products, particularly those whose regulatory status or manufacturing details cannot be verified.
The warning comes amid continuing regulatory scrutiny of cosmetics and personal-care products available in the Indian market. Products sold without the required approvals may not have undergone the regulatory checks applicable to authorised cosmetics.
CDSCO’s notice specifically draws attention to the two Pakistani-manufactured whitening creams and their reported heavy-metal content. Consumers who encounter such products can refer to regulatory advisories and verify product information before use.
